This post was originally meant to celebrate the results of our rivals. I was going to talk about how Arsenal lost to West Brom, how Liverpool couldn't beat Sunderland, and how Carlos Tevez helped Chelsea to their first loss of the season. It seemed like the perfect weekend, all I was waiting for was United to beat Bolton so we could jump into second place, one point behind Chelsea.
But no.
Understandably, I am not the happiest person in the world. Neither are all you other United fans. But for some reason, I'm feeling pretty good about the season. Let's look on the bright side of life...
- United are now only three points behind Chelsea with the same number of games played
- United are undefeated and Chelsea have lost a game already
- Liverpool are sixteenth in the table
- Chelsea play Arsenal in the league next
I guess you could look at this weekend like making a banana split. You have your ice cream, the banana, hot fudge, whipped cream... You're walking out of the ice cream parlor and then you trip over a crack in the sidewalk and you lose half the banana and a scoop of ice cream. It's disappointing, but hey, there's still some sugary goodness to be had.
The season's only just begun my friends. Better days are ahead.
