City, off a thumping victory against Birmingham (5-1) at Eastlands, are in blue-hot form, netting 11 goals in their last 2 games, conceding just 2. In stark contrast, United have let in the same number of goals, but scored 0.09% that of our neighbours (that's 1 goal for those of you who aren't mathematically inclined).
Devoid of ideas against Blackburn, United will look for the return of Wayne Rooney to turn on the style as we look to get out of the mini-slump in form we're experiencing at the moment. Let's hope this week's training leaves Wazza relatively unscathed for another huge Saturday lunchtime kick-off in Manchester. Rooney's no stranger to netting winners at Eastlands, (1-0 December 2008, anyone?)
Presumably with half an eye on Saturday, Sir Alex rested both Darren Fletcher and Michael Carrick against Blackburn—leaving us with the encouraging prospect of a gut-busting performance in the engine room against the Sky Blues.
Personally, and I'm probably not the only one, who hopes Dimitar Berbatov breaks out of his rut sooner rather than later, as the silky-smooth Bulgarian will need to pull his weight as the crunch approaches.
Knowing Sir Alex, he'll play a 4-5-1. Whether the 1 is Rooney, Berbatov or even Macheda, we're going to need goals, especially against such a devastatingly in-form attack.
Worried about Ferdinand, who was clutching his groin and gingerly finishing the Blackburn game? Yeah, I haven't heard anything about that one either. Guess it wasn't serious.
In all honesty, it's not looking like a 0-0 this weekend, but it's looking like how we defend which will probably going to make or break this one. Keep those noisy neighbours out, lads.
I'll be crossing all my fingers and knocking on as much wood as i can find. Especially the pieces of the ladder I'm going to shred =P
