He gets the ball well outside the penalty box and Old Trafford booms, "SHOOOOOT!!!". It used to be Paul Scholes, but now the man with the magic shot is Darron Gibson.
Of course he's still young and is nowhere near the finished article, but Darron Gibson has definitely already proven to Fergie and the rest of us that he has a place on this Man United team. The young Irishman's scored 5 goals in all competitions this season and not a single one was scored from inside the penalty area. Also, the kid is already making a name for himself for the Irish national team.
In addition to his ability to smack 'em in from way out, Gibbo's also a strong physical presence in the middle of the pitch. He's not the quickest guy, but he sure can keep the ball and lay it off for someone to make a play. We've already seen many times that Sir Alex is willing to trust the kid with important games. Like the one against Bayern Munich where he scored first.
I'm not saying that Gibson's gonna turn into the next Paul Scholes or Bryan Robson, but what I am getting at is that he might turn into a regular first teamer a couple years down the road. And for all the doubters, just take a look at Darren Fletcher. I personally didn't think he'd make it to the level he is now. When he first started out, all I saw was a young player that was headed for a bit part role in United's success down the line. Oh me of little faith. Look at him now, running United's engine room like there's no tomorrow.
But yeah, Gibbo's only 22 and he's got a lot of time to show us what else he's got. Here's to him smacking goals in from 30 yards out and showing us where the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow is for many years to come.
The big flashy thing behind the cloud is Gibson smacking one in from outside the box
Great post man. Gibson's geared up to be the next Fletcher+Scholes (Roy Keane, perhaps?). Combative with a keen eye for the rippling the back of that net.
