Gameday: United vs. West Ham

These Nike photos are just epic.

I donno about you guys, but whenever United lose, or play badly I get kinda angry on the inside. It doesn't really show on the outside, but this little part of me inside dies everytime we put in a shitty performance - even more so when it comes against a team we should be beating. Anywho, a new week means a chance at redemption, and this time we're playing West Ham in our own backyard.

Chasing the Title:
So yeah, we put in a rather poor performance last time out against a Fulham team that weren't too hot either. This happened while Chelsea and Arsenal both enjoyed 6-0 thrashings of Wigan and Blackpool respectively. Leaving us looking like the idiots that can't get out of the starting gate. Goddammit.

At least we're still third in the table with only Chelsea able to win their past two games.

Where We Stand:
1|Chelsea|2P|12GD|6PTS
2|Arsenal|2P|6GD|4PTS
3|United|2P|3GD|4PTS
4|Man. City|2P|3GD|4PTS
--------------------------------------
5|Bolton|2P|2GD|4PTS

Enemy Form:
West Ham are sitting second from bottom and have started the season with two losses and a -5 goal difference. I can see two things happening here. Either their bad start to the season continues, or they come out of their early season slump and play explosive football. I pray that it's the former.

Players to Look Out For:
There's no one in particular in this West Ham team that would jump to my mind as an immediate danger to us, but if I had to pick a person, it would have to be Scott Parker. He's their main source of creativity in the midfield and can cause problems with his Park Ji-Sung style determination and ability to pick out good passes with for his teammates. If we fail to contain him, you can bet your ass that Fergie's gonna stare down Carrick and Fletcher at half time until they get the message.

Also, they have Robert "I'm gonna let my entire country down in front of a global television audience" Green in goal.

On the Home Front:
Unexpectedly, Rooney got sick last week and had to sit out the game against Fulham. Hopefully he'll be back this week and find his form. Also, Ferdinand and Anderson are making good recoveries from their respective injuries but aren't fit enough to take part tonight. I'm also hearing news off the BBC saying that Scholesy is getting a rest today and that means that we'll look for a new midfield partner for Fletcher this game. Darron Gibson anyone? Just putting it out there...

TSR's Thoughts:
1. Will Rooney be beast?
2. Will Robert Green pull off another fail and let us have a goal or two?
3. Does the Old Trafford pitch actually make us play better? Craven Cottage has a slightly smaller pitch and that may be why Valencia didn't make a huge impact. Or maybe I'm just crazy...

Game on.

  1. If Robert Green's in goal... ... is it like playing no goalkeeper at all? *ponders*
