Gameday: Scunthorpe vs. United

The 411:
In our first Carling Cup game of the season, the Red Devils take on Championship team Scunthorpe United in the Third Round.

Chasing the Cup:
Not really much to say here. Basically, if we win, we're through. The first Carling Cup games of the season have thrown us a couple of surprises in the past though. We've been knocked out by Southend, Coventry City, and Derby County when we weren't giving it our all in the past.

Enemy Form:
Scunthorpe have lost two of their last three games and are now facing the daunting challenge of eliminating Manchester United from the Carling Cup. Also, they have only just lost manager Nigel Adkins to Southampton and caretaker boss Ian Baraclough is leading his team out only for the third time tonight.

Players to Look Out For:
Unfortunately I don't have much information on Scunthorpe's players so I'll dedicate this part of the preview to Ian Baraclough, their manager. I watched an interview with him on the BBC website and he seems like a great person. He was so amiable, genuine, and down-to-earth... a far cry from the douchebag that is Arsene Wenger.

Anywho, Baraclough watched the game against Liverpool and said that he saw one weakness to our game that he'll try and get his team to exploit tonight. I for one, hope it doesn't work out for him.

As for us, Bébé is slated to play a part in tonight's game and I'm curious more than anything to see how well he'll do. I haven't seen much of him and this will be his chance to show us why we bought him.

On the Home Front:
Many changes are expected for tonight as the Carling Cup is usually where the depth of the team is tested. Personally, I love following the youth players that we have in our system and these games are a fantastic opportunity for me to see them in action.

Those expected to play tonight are Bébé, Gibson, Owen, Chicharito, and Macheda. I haven't read anything about the other players, but I'm sure the likes of Obertan, Fábio, and Smalling will be given some game time.

TSR's Thoughts:
1. Will Bébé justify his £7.4m price tag?
2. Did you know that Bébé played in the homeless World Cup and scored 40 goals in 6 games?
3. Will our number 28 score a Gibson Thunderbolt (© TSR)?
4. Who will play at right-back?
