In light of Ikmal's new series, I will be publishing a similar line of moments but dedicated instead to the 5 moments that I think, or at least can remember, where I slapped my hands to my forehead and screamed profanities in earnest at the TV.
I'll be doing this series as a countdown to the most facepalm-able moment and so we'll begin with Roy Carroll's infamous blunder which was against Tottenham a while back. So basically Roy Carroll is way off his line and United are holding on to a draw, Pedro Mendes gets the ball in David Beckham '96 territory and smashes it towards the goal. Carroll should have been there, but was instead running to get back in time and as the ball crosses the line he swats it away. Linesman says no goal - United are relieved, Tottenham are furious, and the refs get blamed for everything.
What did I do? I leaned back in my chair, chuckled a little bit, and lost all faith in Roy Carroll.
